PACU Nurse Job Duties

PACU Nurse job duties include taking care of the patients after they undergo any kind of surgery. These nurses are required to have complete knowledge about taking care of the patients who have undergone surgery. They need to ensure that these patients take medicines and meals on time and assist the patients in carrying out various other tasks. The job of a PACU Nurse is that of great responsibility and requires a good physical stamina too. There are a number of other job duties that a PACU Nurse is required to handle; these are discussed below in detail.

PACU Nurse Job Duties

  • PACU Nurse is required to take care of the patients who have undergone surgery.
  • PACU Nurse needs to help the patients in brushing and bathing.
  • PACU Nurse is required to help these patients in shaving, combing and dressing up.
  • PACU Nurse needs to check the patient’s pulse rate, blood pressure and weight at regular intervals and share the information with the doctors.
  • PACU Nurse is required to reposition the patients on the bed for taking their meals or other purposes.
  • PACU Nurse needs to help the patients stand and take them out for a walk, if the patient is in the condition to go out.
  • PACU Nurse is required to help the patients go from the ward to the operation theatre or for therapy sessions.
  • PACU Nurse is required to ensure that the patients are given the medicines on time and also that they are given the correct amount of dosage.
  • PACU Nurse needs to ensure that the patients are given light but nutritional food and that they have the meals on time.
  • PACU Nurse is required to ensure that the patient’s ward is kept clean and tidy.
  • PACU Nurse is required to change the drips and give injections to the patients.
