An Occupational Therapist is one who completes and maintains necessary records. Besides that he needs to evaluate patients’ health progress and prepare reports accordingly. In this job position he must check and evaluate patients’ physical and mental abilities regularly which will help the doctors to determine the practical therapy for them.
Job Duties of Occupational Therapist
An occupational Therapist has to choose activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills as per their intellectual and physical capabilities.
He plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs in hospital, institutional, or community settings to help out recover those impaired due to illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems.
He should advise changes in patients’ work or living situations, consistent with their requirements and capabilities.
In this position he should consult with rehabilitation team to go for activity programs and manage occupational remedy with other therapeutic activities.
He will have to help the clients so that there is an improvement in decision making by them. He will also see to it that their memory and power of sequencing improves to a great extent.
He will have to develop different health promotion programs and group activities to improve the health of the client. Improving the health means relief from stress or prevention of any mental disability.
Provides training and supervises in therapy techniques and objectives for apprentice and nurses and other medical staff.
