Nurse Aide Job Duties

Nurse Aide Job Duties include taking care of the elderly patients admitted in the hospitals and nursing homes. Nurse Aide needs to help the patients in taking bath, changing their clothes, brushing their teeth, giving meals on time, ensuring that they take the correct dosage of medicines at the prescribed time and carry out various other similar tasks. Though working as a nurse aide may not require possessing a specific degree course, however a formal training in taking care of the patients is essential to handle this position well.

Nurse Aide Job Duties

  • Nurse Aide is required to take care of the elderly patients admitted in the nursing homes and hospitals.
  • Nurse Aide needs to help the patients in brushing and taking bath. She may be required to give sponge to the patients in case he/she is not in a position to take bath.
  • Nurse Aide needs to help these patients in shaving and dressing up.
  • Nurse Aide is required to help the patients sit on the wheelchair or place them on the stretcher.
  • Nurse Aide is required to take the patients from the ward to the medical room and visa versa.
  • Nurse Aide needs to ensure that the patients take meals on time and have healthy nutritional food in each meal.
  • Nurse Aide needs to ensure that the patients take their medicines on time.
  • Nurse Aide is required to check the patient’s vital signs and maintain a record of the same.
  • Nurse Aide needs to position these patients appropriately on the bed.
  • Nurse Aide is required to assist the doctors in treating the elderly patients suffering from different diseases.
  • Nurse Aide is required to maintain proper hygiene in the ward and around these patients.
  • Nurse Aide needs to ensure that she works as per the policies and procedures set by the hospital/nursing home.
