Environmental Scientist Job Duties include developing procedures for safeguarding the environment. He is required to conduct extensive research before formulating these processes and procedures. A candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or other natural sciences and a few years of experience in this field in order to get into this position.

Environmental Scientist Job Duties

  • Environmental Scientists are required to study and find out various ways in which the environment can be kept pollution free.
  • They need to regulate measures for the prevention of land, water and air pollution.
  • Environmental Scientists are involved in extensive research programs that are aimed at finding out the level of pollutants in the atmosphere.
  • They are then required to work upon reducing these pollutants from the environment and safeguard people from suffering from various diseases caused due to pollution.
  • Environmental Scientists specializing in researching on water pollution work on the ways to eradicate groundwater contamination, acid rain and other similar water pollution elements.
  • Those specializing in dealing with the land pollution are required to work o land conversation. They also need to find out ways to remove toxic waste from the land.
  • Those specializing in dealing with air pollution may find out the content of pollutants in the air and its source and work upon decreasing it.
  • Environmental Scientists are required to come up with proposals for reducing pollution and maintaining the environment.
  • They are required to prepare detailed reports discussing the tasks they have undertaken and also the result of the research work done by them.
