Collections Representative Job Duties include dealing with the customers for the collection of bill payments. Collection Representatives are a part of various industries. In order to get into this position one must be skilled enough to deal with different kinds of clients. Employers usually seek candidates having similar work experience.

Collections Representative Job Duties

  • Collections Representatives are responsible for bill payment collection.
  • They are required to deal with the customers delaying the payments in order to recover the payment amount from them.
  • Collections Representatives need to follow up collection cases over the phone or email. They are also required to visit the customer’s place in order to follow up the case.
  • They are also involved in filing customers’ invoices.
  • They may even be required to do some bookkeeping work in order to keep a track of the collection cases.
  • Collections Representatives need to generate collection reports at the end of each month or may be even on a weekly basis.
  • They need to figure out the regular defaulters and discuss the reason for late payment with them and work on resolving this issue.
  • Collections Representatives need to coordinate with the billing department in order to discuss the cases where the payments are being delayed due to billing discrepancy issues and get those issues rectified.
  • They are also involved in tracking down the payment defaulters who no longer reside on the same address.
  • Collections Representatives are required to prepare payment plans and share the same with their clients making the payment process easier for them.
